Cabinet refacing can provide more that just a new look for your kitchen cabinets. We can customize and improve your cabinets in many ways. In this Cabinet Refacing 101 post we are going to talk about drawer conversions, one of our most popular services and for good reason.

What is a drawer conversion?

A drawer conversion is the process of turning a base cabinet with two doors and one drawer ( a very common kitchen cabinet) in to a base cabinet with 3 or more drawers. The process is fairly simple and if you are planning to reface your kitchen we definitely recommend looking for places where a drawer conversion make sense.

When planning a drawer conversion consider what you might store in those drawers, that will help up decide on how deep each drawer should be as well as how many drawer to include. Deep drawers are great for storing counter top appliances for example. Mid sized drawers are great for plates and glasses. We’ll help you decide on the ideal drawer depth when we visit.

What does it cost?

The costs of drawer conversions depends on the number and size of the drawers. Our most common conversion is adding two deep drawers so that the cabinet has one shallow upper drawer and two deep lower drawers, that type of conversion costs about $400. Much less than a new drawer cabinet would cost.

Replacing Drawer Boxes

A standard cabinet refacing comes with new drawer fronts. Another great option is to get new drawer boxes as well. Installing new drawer boxes allows us to also install new, full extension soft close drawer slides, a great feature, especially if you have kids.
